RENOVATIONS, REMODEL

& ADDITIONS

Basics 101

  1. Plan your design and quote

  2. Demolition or begin prep work inc. footers and foundation

  3. Rough work (framing, mechanical, plumbing, electrical) and any other inside the wall work

  4. Rough inspection from city or county depending on the jurisdiction

  5. Insulation if needed

  6. Dry-walling

  7. Finishes (carpentry, trim, new doors, windows, etc, cabinets, floor tile)

  8. Countertops

  9. Tile

  10. Painting

  11. Call in tradesmen for trim work (electricians, plumbing, mechanical)

  12. Flooring, which is done last so it doesn’t get damaged during the process

  13. Painters come in to touch up anything

  14. Clean from top to bottom

  15. Final walk-through

HOME PLANS

  1. Building permits are written authorizations for your projects.

  2. Building permits are issued by a local government.

  3. Building, constructing or remodeling without a permit can result in serious penalties.

  4. The purpose of a building permit is to ensure compliance with codes and regulations and the safety of residents.

  5. Besides the regular building permit, there are temporary and retroactive building permits.
